In my Magazine Design Capstone, I was challenged to design a creative magazine cover. In my design, I fused progressive ideas with traditional art. I manipulated my replication of “The Creation of Adam” to depict man’s creation of birth control. While birth control has provided great freedom, there are also many dark sides, like unwanted side effects and the repressive expectations for ovary-carrying individuals to bear the full weight of preventing pregnancy. I demonstrated this darkness by illustration a cloud of black that crawls across the page, directing the reader’s eye from the male’s hand to the female’s.
